Stage 5 – Evaluate

Image
In the review of our prototype, our classmates and teacher suggested us to make some adjustments to the final video that would be published on Instagram. The suggestions they made to us consisted of changing the audio language of the video from Spanish to English and also implementing Spanish subtitles so that our target audience could understand it. Therefore, we made a new video dubbed in English with Spanish subtitles. The final video to be posted on Intagram Reels, is this one:   Link

Stage 4 – Prototype

From the "ideate" stage, we chose to educate people about monkeypox disease through videos to be posted on Instagram. Below is the infographic explaining our prototype, as well as the first video we designed to be evaluated by our teacher and peers: Prototype video Link

Stage 3 – Ideate

At this stage we brainstormed ideas that could help solve or mitigate the problem of misinformation about monkeypox. Educate people about the disease. Discussion forum where people can express themselves and say what they know. Videos or Reels in social media. Medical campaigns in schools, universities and companies. Social media advertising with a disease theme.

Stage 2 – Define

After researching state websites (reliable sources), consulting social media content and conducting interviews with family and friends about monkeypox, we have found that people do not know enough about it. People say: "it is a virus that comes from China, it is spread by monkeys, it is prevented by using masks and washing hands, it is spread by fluids and saliva" - Viviana "It is like measles, it causes an outbreak, there are people who have died but in Colombia it is controlled, it is prevented by avoiding physical contact with people, we must reduce the number of sexual partners" - Sara "it is a virus that is transmitted through the respiratory tract and close contact, part of its alteration is an outbreak, headache, the treatment is very similar to smallpox before, it is transmitted through sexual intercourse" - Brayan "I don't really know how it is transmitted, I have seen a lot of news, it is in the boom and trend" - Andrea In the video

Stage 1 – Empathize

Monkeypox has existed for many years, but in our country it is a new or little known disease, so there is a lot of misinformation about it. About 90 cases of contagion have been confirmed in Colombia. People often use the monkeypox issue to make jokes and create memes:   Myths have been created about the disease: For this purpose, the Colombian Ministry of National Health (MINSALUD) has made available to citizens an ABC containing all the important information about the disease: What is it? It is a viral zoonotic (a virus transmitted to humans by animals infected with the virus) caused by the simian pox virus with symptoms similar to smallpox, however, clinically symptom similar to smallpox, but clinically less severe. Although monkeypox virus was discovered in 1958, the condition was recognized as a disease in humans in 1970.  How is it transmitted? Animal to human transmission (zoonotic) can occur by direct contact with blood, body fluids, skin lesions or mucous membranes of infected
